First Love Treasure
by Frederickia Wallace
When I first looked upon your face and saw the dancing sparkle in your eyes, I was but
nineteen, without a hint of what loving you would mean.
I thought love, but only a dream and then I met you, my hand nervously reach out to meet yours, I felt my heart stir within and the quiver of my speech managed a hello, however soft and low.
How was I to know that I would love you so? Aah, then there was the dance, you and me the music still resounds in my mind like the echoes of the mysteriously deep sea,
Yes, I knew then that all I hoped for was for you to love me forever in a day, that slow dance seemed endless as time stood still and I would know the thrill of being in your arms
and oh what a memory of what I can still see and yes, even feel, the room spinning the night away, the drunkenness dizzy spell of love, I smell the fragrance of your Cologne, feel the yearning for you long, eternal and strong. The way I knew it would be when first you set your dancing eyes upon me.
Many years have come and gone. My life has been full. Through the years I have grown...wise steady and strong, Yet within my heart there is a treasure chest filled with memories of you, the very first love I ever knew, of a dance that no memory has replaced and a night you sealed with a kiss that has yet to be erased. Sometimes in my mind I go there where all is well and all is fair, like the silver that streaks the night skies are the memories of our dance, the feel of your arms, safe, the look in your eyes and the deepest sensation of yearning, in my tenderness to me so new...
and all the gentleness of a lifetime shown by you, my first love treasure to hold within my heart for always and forever
